Moat Mountain Trail goes straight up the fall line from the Attitash junction and is very eroded for the first 500 to 600 vertical feet. I don’t think this is really a maintenance issue; I think the only long term solution will be trail reconstruction/relocation. Unfortunately, many side paths have developed around the worst areas.
Beautiful views today! Lots of people at Diana’s Baths, but above there I had the trails to myself much of the time. Many flowers starting to bloom along the way. The descent from North Moat to the Red Ridge trail junction has several very steep down scrambles that I think would be very challenging in wet weather. |
