Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Any minor crossings were easy rock hops.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Blue blazes and stone work in excellent shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Many seen on this trail; the terrain and difficulty level are dog-friendly.
Bugs
Bugs: Moderate black fly presence- repellent was needed, and effective. We could hang out and eat on the ledges (slight breeze) without a problem; extended stopping in the woods might make you a blood donor.

Comments
Comments: Beautiful weather and trail conditions for this under-appreciated peak. The climbing is moderate all the way, and the views near the top are quite impressive. Most of the trail was dry, with just a couple stretches of primarily avoidable mud.

We were dismayed to hear from another pair of hikers that there was a smoldering, incompletely-extinguished campfire between the summit ledges and the true summit. We and other hikers helped to make sure the embers were completely out. There are enough wildfires in the world these days- please don't contribute to starting them in the White Mountains!

As always, check out Unnecessary Climb for a more detailed route description, along with others in the White Mountains and beyond!
