Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Easily hopped this day
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of trees to step over and debris littering the trails on Carrigain Notch and Desolation trails. Nothing super crazy. One big blowdown on Signal Ridge before the junction to go around. The top of signal ridge looks like it's had some work done as all the blowdowns we encountered in April are mostly gone. A couple areas of washout on Carrigain Notch trail near stream crossings.

Bugs
Bugs: Oh yeah. They're out and hungry. Wore my bugnet for a good portion of the day. Also to catch the 7,492 spider webs I went through on my way up.

Comments
Comments: The trails were in surprisingly good shape given the blowdowns I experienced just last month. Carrigain Notch and Desolation were debris littered as they aren't popular trails and there was some areas of erosion and washout. Dry trail for the most part though some wet areas on Carriagain Notch trail. The spider webs were impressive and I would like to issue a personal apology to the numerous spiders I un-homed. The black flies were out in force finally, but not terrible until the summit. There's an obnoxious amount of snow on the last 1/4 mile or so of Desolation. No traction needed, but it took some care to go through and around. Coming down Signal Ridge was in good shape. Looks like some good work has been done recently. All in all, not a bad day. Never done this loop in this direction and I'm not sure I will again, but it's still better than going out and back via Signal Ridge as far as I'm concerned.
