Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The access road to Liberty/Brook was a challenge. As I've seen before any low clearance vehicles would have some real difficulty getting to the lot. Very deep ruts and washout areas from the last major rain.

Bugs
Bugs: On Wednesday, the lower 1/2 of Liberty was a muddy mosquito infested mess. They were clinging to my bug net, almost impossible to stop for a break. Upper 1/2 of Liberty finally cleared out once in the drier zone. Black flies were dominant in the upper half of Hammond/Brook due to low wind. Bug net was a must.

Comments
Comments: Revisited the Liberty trail after 7-8 years. So sad to see that in several places about 2-4 feet of soil is literally GONE. Loose gravelly footing made for a bit of a challenge despite the easy grade of this trail. It used to be the "easiest" trail up Chocorua, and probably still is due to the nature of the others, but this one to me is no longer enjoyable. Hammond was fine, getting to the cabin and above was perfect. The bug situation is probably better now because temps have fallen and the wet areas may have dried a bit.
