Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at the crossroads near the start of Guinea Pond Trail on Sandwich Notch Rd. Driving in from the Sandwich end was fine and the road is in good shape.

Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None of the natural crossings were an issue.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Mead Trail was in good shape overall; I noticed the bright new-ish blazes. One small blowdown near the bottom of the trail. Could use some light brushing in spots. Water bars need cleaning. There is some nice stone work on this trail that is still in good shape as it doesn't see heavy traffic. See comments section below regarding Guinea Pond Trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: There were a few black flies at the summit, but it was the mosquitoes that were a nuisance today. Holy shwow. Thank goodness for the head net.

Comments
Comments: The local beaver population continues to claim sections of Guinea Pond Trail as their own. The "new" flooded section is going to need a bypass at some point. Heading in, I bushwhacked around it but coming back I was able to scoot along the edge. This requires walking in mud and on logs. In comparison, the "old" flooded section was done by walking on the side and the official bypass was not needed today.

This is the longer (and quieter!) of the two main approaches to Israel but grades are super easy all the way up. There was a little drizzle at the summit but no significant rain. Views were obscured by low clouds.

Surprisingly for a Monday, I passed a group of five on Mead Trail.
