 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I parked at the pull off about 0.2 away from actual TH. Oil pan boulders at the TH. There is a spot for one low clearance car right at the start but it impedes ingress/egress so I opted to not be the main character and walk the road. |

 | Water Crossing Notes: |
No issues crossing the water. It appears F&G didn't either with their ATV for last night's rescue |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
All trails could greatly benefit from brushing and fresh blazing, they are very old and faded. I recall only seeing one AT blaze on KRT, but you're usually looking at your feet anyways. Trails is very obvious. KRT from RB to Wolf is very car wash, with about 20 blow downs. This trail needs some serious love and does not appear has anyone has done work on it in a few years. Most blowdowns have established herd paths around them. One monster spruce has fallen directly parallel with the trail. Bog bridges could definitely be replaced, half are under water. The ATV used last night rutted up a few sections of wet trail :( |

A MOIST and delightful day was had on Mt Wolf for my NHHH. I needed to get out and close to home, this one fit the bill. Also, wanted to test out my new trail runners to see how they performed. WELCOME TO JURASSIC PARK! My Raptor2's kicked butt! Exceptional conditions on Reel Brook end to end. This trail follows old logging roads for a large portion of it and especially before the power lines is ripe for speed, with great footing. It's a single track through a sea of green in many spots. After it crosses the power lines it begins to get more trail like and muddier. KRT was absolutely stellar, one might say absolutely magical. The amount of standing water and mud from a weeks worth of rain was a Rocky Branch-ish delight. Oh my gosh what a delight. Tedious and large swimming holes where found. Might want to bring a life preserver for one of them. I was able to find a well worn herd path to the true summit of Mt. Wolf. Several familiar names where noted. Thinking I would save time by bushwhacking back to the lower portion of the AT, I quickly realized why the trail switchbacks, guess who got cliffed out like four times? That saved zero time. Apparently the Franconia Notch Weather Machine (TM) decided today was my day to be the lucky recipient of a downpour. Just when you thought KRT couldn't get any better, lets add that. Remember that scene from Forrest Gump when he was like "it was raynnnnin up" and hes doing that hand flick to keep it away from his face? That was me. It rained so hard, "it raynnned up." There was even more mud and swimming holes on the way out on KRT. RBT was a delight after the tedium. I was able to pretend to be a trail runner, since I had my magic shoes, momma said they'd take me anywhere. If you heard a loud boom, that was me hitting mach one. Give this one some time to dry out. I know I will almost certainly never be going to this section of KRT again. Might trigger PTSD |
