The purpose of this post is to report that the bridge over Austin/Mill Brook on Mill Brook Road, mentioned in the 31st edition of the WMG as reconstructed, is gone again. Mill Brook Road is fairly rough in places but definitely drivable up to that point, but you can't drive across the brook anymore like you could last year.
I was planning to drive across the bridge and then another 0.8 miles up the road to where Austin Brook Trail leaves the road. Unfortunately, the bridge being gone turned what would've been a 3-mile hike into a 4.6-mile hike. I didn't have time to do that this afternoon, so I'll come back and do it again when I have more time. |
