Bugs
Bugs: Surprisingly not bad until late day. We sprayed at the 1.2 mi point because mosquitos and gnats buzzed your ears the minute you stopped as I didn’t want to hassle with it. By late afternoon around 5 pm, as dusk settled and we circled the pond, they were back - and Ferocious in the parking lot.

Comments
Comments: Lovely change of pace trail that held plenty of fellow hikers but wasn’t the conga line of White Cross/White Dot.
Personally I found Red Spot’s steep 0.8 mi or so to be very challenging, more than expected. Excellent dry conditions with minimal mud. Also the last 0.4 mi on Pumpelly was a little hard to see follow the route to the top, though the vistas were beautiful. Tracing the ridge the Pumpelly follows while we stood admiring it from the summit made me want to do the whole trail sometime. -Amazing how many trails there are on this mountain.

Despite wildfire haze and summit crowds it was a great day to be out.
Lastly to the guy with turquoise sunglasses whose little daughter
was having a tough day, and we kept passing each other as one of my autistic wonder-boys was struggling: she was a trooper. I hope you made it!
