 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The parking off Paugus Road via Fowlers Mill Road is a good size lot, just a few cars when we arrived before 7:30 a.m. (2 left soon after as they had been camping). When we returned (around 1:30 or so) the lot was full and cars were parked a bit down the road. Road is rough with a deep mud hole and other places requiring higher clearance (we had a jeep and a Subaru - no issues) |

 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |
|
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Rock hoppable |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The lower half of the trail has a few sections of wet trail. Some areas are getting wider with hikers trying to skirt the wet. On the way down there was someone working on the water bars - raking out leaves, and working on the run off areas. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Several dogs on trail - expect it could be a challenge for some at the last junction before the summit but lots of dogs at top. Most were very friendly, trail trained, but we got one growler. |
|
 | Bugs: |
Unbelievable amount of mosquitoes from lot to Jim Liberty Cabin (bug net worthy). Then a few black flies and some giant housefly/wasps on the summit that landing on hats and glasses but weren't biting/stinging. |

 | Comments: |
Thanks to the trail maintainer for her work. It might have been the mosquitoes but this wasn't my favorite way up Chocorua.
On the good side lots of birds singing - thrushes, white throated sparrow, juncos at the cabin. Couple of lady slippers, trillium and bunchberry. |
