Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Mt. Garfield, NH
Trails
Trails: Garfield Trail, Garfield Ridge Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, June 11, 2023
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We were one of the first ones there today so easy for us parking in the little lot, but I'd say only about 6-8 cars can fit in the lot. Others must park along the road which was very very busy by the time we left around 11. Shouldn't be a big deal to park along the road but the later you get there the further away from the trail head you will be.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Two water crossings early in the hike, but the water was low and it was pretty straightforward to rock hop over them.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail seems well maintained. A single tree down about a mile into the hike but was easy to duck under even for a tall guy like myself. A few miles in you enter a riverbed and take that up for a while, and after the rain and storms last week there was plenty of mud and running water, so boots would be advisable for current conditions.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Some cuties up there today
Bugs
Bugs: Started getting bad around 9-10 but not a black fly in sight. Just mosquitos and little gnats. Didn't need bug nets just some spray helped
