 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Zealand Trail and Twinway: No issues. Lend-A-Hand Trail: There a few blowdowns on the lower section not too far from the Twinway junction. Hale Brook Trail: The lower part of the trail is impeccable; looks like the water bars were just cleaned. The upper part has some serious erosion happening and the trail is more of a trench in spots. |

 | Bugs: |
Not sure if we stumbled into an alternate dimension but they were pretty much nonexistent most of the day. The only nuisance spot was on the summit of Hale as the sun had come out by then. I had the head net in my pocket but never used it. |

This was a bit of a Plan B as we weren't sure what the rain was going to do. It rained on the entire drive up, but there was no rain at all during the hike.
Zealand Trail is always a joy and we made quick time to the hut. Zealand Falls is flowing very well right now.
This was the first time on Lend-A-Hand for either of us and it's a very beautiful and generally easy route. Would hike again.
I hadn't been on Hale Brook Trail in a decade so it was like visiting it for the first time again. It gets you there and back but I much prefer the Fire Warden's Trail.
All of these trails were damp with bits of mud and some puddles here and there. Thanks in part to the general lack of bugs, this was a very enjoyable loop. |
