Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: This one is a little tricky as there are no parking signs at the end of the paved road. So you cannot park there. But I’d be very wary to continue beyond here without a mid-clearance car. There’s parking for a few cars shortly after this, but to get there, you’ve got to go over some stuff that’s not really any better than the rest of the road so you might as well drive the whole way. Nothing horrific, just puddles and holes. Again, mid clearance with caution should be fine but I’d be wary to bring a car with only a couple of inches down the road. Maybe park further back? The main parking area had room for many cars and we were the only ones. There was one car further back on the dirt road in the smaller parking area when we arrived.

Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail is primarily marked with blue diamonds like those that you’d see on a ski trail. There’s also the occasional arrow and sign at turns that say “Copple Crown Mountain” which seems rather unique. Markings were somewhat frequent. There wasn’t clear signage at the parking area (if you really didn’t know what you were doing you could’ve continued south along the road rather than north and the maps here are snowmobile maps not hiking maps) but signage was intact at the spur trail to the east peak. There were a handful of small blowdowns that could be taken care of but aren’t very cumbersome.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure, just watch them around the cliffs.
Bugs
Bugs: They were bad. Definitely recommend bug spray with DEET in it.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: A nice SNH redline with mom :) See the notes about the road above. The road walk was not particularly pleasant but wasn’t wet/soft/muddy. The trail itself was pretty gradual even though it’s carved into a rather steep slope. It passes through a little boulder field. Things were damp from recent rain but I believe there were only a few spots of deeper mud.
I think one of these spots was in an area where the trail was a bit obscure; all in all the trail was easy to follow though and it’s pretty well marked throughout. I do not recall if the spur to the east peak was blazed but I would guess so. There’s a small summit cairn just before the viewpoint on the main trail that goes to the summit. We did not get a view here due to the cloud but we got a decent view from the east peak! Some nice moss around here as well.

It started sprinkling on us as we ate a little on east peak so we threw on the rain jackets and kept them on as we hiked down most of the way but it was a pretty light rain and actually made for a beautiful and pleasant decent! I think the guidebook overestimates how long this hike is: Gaia had us at 5.5mi, 950ft of gain.
