 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I parked at the trailhead near the end of Deer Mtn Trail (driveable road) which is off of Sophie's Lane. It was a little rough but my regular-clearance car didn't have a problem. |

 | Comments: |
I took Deer Mtn Trail up about 1.5 miles, then headed into the woods, finding the mossy wet areas and tight woods. Once I hit the long northern ridge, I stayed almost on the edge of the western 3120' contour and found old fern-filled logging roads and moose paths just until the rocky summit. On the way down I retraced my steps off the ridge, but then stayed well west of the wet areas, slabbing along the 2980' contour line, following nice fern roads (wet at times) and paths, and stayed on the west side of the 3000' oval bump, descending its steep but short northern ridge till I picked up the trail. Wish I had gone up that way. I continued up the trail and checked out Deer Mtn and the tower before returning to my car. |
