It had been two weeks since my last hike. The last few years i have gotten out hiking usually atleast once on the weekend. More recently a nagging injury I have has kept me from going out as much though the weather has played a factor....Start time 0445. 70 degrees before the sun came up at trailhead. Ample parking. For me this was more of a get out of the house/conditioning hike. Usually I have only done this one in winter & this morning my body is reminding me why. The trail was damp at the start. At around 3500 feet I entered the clouds. In the clouds when the wind blows it essentially is raining when it is this humid. On the way back from South peak some of the clouds began to dump heavey rain sporadically. When i got back to the care soaked but with high temperatures vs 40s last week it was welcome. I wore a bug mask the whole time & tried a few times to ditch it so as to let the cool rain get my head & hair but as soon as i did i was lunch. Hike took six hours at a less sustainable pace...I will be keeping this one on my winter only list.. |
