None. Slide and Avalanche Brooks were running fast so I imagine their crossings would have been interesting, but not out of the question. |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The reason for the post. The road/trail was nicely restored after Irene and it's still a fine walk but it is changing. Problems are fixable now but I'd be worried a lot of blowouts would follow a really good storm now. There is a two foot deep blowout from a side flow on the trail/road below the old logging camp between the Mt. Tripyramid trailheads. Fortunately it crosses the road/trail and down the bank but if it starts heading down the trail/road it will have a good long run of it to take out including an area forming its own small trench. There are several other places where the water is eroding now modest trenches but a good rain will do more. Most of the waterbars are filled and water just runs down one or both of the "tire" paths. I used a boot to direct some current rain in some but that's pretty temporary and meagre. The road/trail lacks a crown and the sides have built up with leaves and plant growth keeping any water in the road heading down it. In low slope areas this just moves the fines around but where there is slope more is moving, and in places as noted it is starting to trench. I imagine the lack of a good crown and deep waterbars was for ski grooming and bicycling reasons, but it does mean the shallow waterbars and sides need more regular work much of it beyond regular trail maintainer expectations. Above the North slide TH a couple culverts are blocked although currently much of the water runs in side ditches to a lower water bar, but in one or two of these are started to erode into trenches as the side ditches are blocked. I opened one a bit, but just a bit. There are a couple modest blowdowns, easily avoided. I only hiked as far as Old Skidder. |

 | Comments: |
See trail maintenance. Despite my concern for the road/trail in the future things are still great for walking especially on a rainy day, with a mostly flat footbed, no brushiness and until it rained relatively little running water in the trail/road. I used an umbrella for the downpours. |
