Comments
Comments: Fun half day hike! Glad the weather dried out enough to finally take a hike. There was pretty thick cloud cover this morning in the lakes region. By the time we got to summit at 10, it was still cloud covered, but we did get some views about thirty minutes later when the clouds broke. The humidity was still pretty high in the valley and lower elevation forest, but it backed off a little near the summit.
The recent heavy rain has washed away much of the topsoil on Boulder Loop Trail and pushed leaf and stick debris into piles along the lower slopes. Higher up, a few of the rocks were still wet and slippery. Near the summit, there were some rocks with water flowing down them, and several areas of standing water and mud. Brook trail and Belknap Range trail had patches of mud, but most of it was pretty easy to navigate around.
