Bugs
Bugs: Moderate. Mosquitos in the Great Gulf but they weren't that hungry for some reason. in the Alpine Zone, highly variable. SWARMS of bugs on the summit of Mt. Adams. Nothing at Madison hut or Mt. Madison. None of the bugs on Adams were biters but you still couldn't rest up there.

Comments
Comments: A lovely day in the mountains. I had the Great Gulf all to myself: didn't see anyone there all day. Water crossings were difficult but I didn't have to take my shoes off. Six Husbands is laughable: more of a mountain climbing route than a trail. Edman's Cutoff is all talus and scree: very slow going. Didn't see anyone until Edman's Col but even then, maybe 20 parties of folks in the Alpine Zone. Adams was untenable due to bugs. No views from Madison due to fog but I got it done (four 4000 footers to go). Had to hammer down Osgood and run the Great Gulf trail to get to the car by dark.
