Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All crossings are bridged.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A duck under on Crawford. The Webster Cliff section from Pierce to the hut is the worst that I've ever seen it. The bog bridges are all rotten, and of the two ladders one is completely rotted out, and the other has a step missing that I wasn't sure whether to use or not, it didn't look safe, so I whacked down the side of it. The huts charge $145 a night. What a showpiece for their guests. It's really a shame that the AMC hasn't done something, before someone gets injured. The Mizpah Cutoff was like walking down the middle of a stream the whole way.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Crawford good for pooches, but I wouldn't take them down Webster Cliff.
Bugs
Bugs: None. Believe it or not!

Comments
Comments: The weather cooperated today. Nice views from Pierce and lots of friendly hikers. Side note: I ran into about 12 hikers with 3 tents pitched only about 100 feet from the Mizpah Trail, clearly within the Forest Protection zone, and only about .1 mile from the Neuman Tent site. I mentioned that they weren't legal, and apparently a crew member had already said something to them, because they said that they were relocating. Go Figure!
