 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Call the fish hatchery, or ask them when you arrive what time the gate is closing. The day we went it wasn't closing until 10pm, so we had no concerns about getting out of the woods before 4pm. In fact we showed up at 10am and were out of the woods at 6:30pm. |

 | Comments: |
The trail is very wet and muddy. Bunnel follows a brook for much of it which is very pretty. The incline is relatively gradual, with a small, but good outlook shortly before the Cabot cabin. The top of Cabot itself is a just a small clearing where the bugs were ferocious. The Horn was the highlight of the hike with fantastic views. The trek down Unknown Pond Trail was again very wet. Overall there were 4 difficult water crossings, and significant mud in many places. Fortunately there were a lot of side paths around the mud and with care the water crossings were do-able. Although the last one everyone got their feet wet. Check with the fish hatchery on the gate closing time. The day we were there it did not get locked until 10pm. So no stress about getting out of the woods in time. |
