 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of parking at the train depot at 8am, yet quite a number of vehicles on the side of the east side of the highway on the walk over to the Crawford Path trailhead. |
|
 | Surface Conditions: |
Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
|
 | Recommended Equipment: |

|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
None this route, which is why I chose this hike, after so much rain. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trail is basically in good shape. Below the Mizpah cutoff junction there is an easy duck-under and a walk-under. The latter consists of a large dead birch resting on an old, very dead trunk without identifying bark that is horizontal across the trail and high up; I wouldn't want to camp beneath this assembly on a windy night. Just above the cutoff junction, there is a large dead trunk across the trail and high up enough that it isn't an easy climb over, except at the edge of the trail, where the slightly higher trail edge allows one to swing a leg over the log. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw a couple of well-behaved dogs, leashed. But there was one small/medium sized dog on leash and wearing a muzzle, and which did not like men, I was told. Those in control of the dog did keep it well away from other hikers. |
|
 | Bugs: |
Some, but I had applied a concentrated DEET at the start, so I didn't really notice bugs today. |
|
 | Lost and Found: |
Maybe halfway from the Mizpah cutoff junction to the upper junction someone left a wet wide-brim had on a low stump beside the trail. Then I saw one fairly new and thoroughly wet yellow glove left on a rock mid-trail high up, just before the upper junction. |

 | Comments: |
Nice day without much threat of rain to get in some hike. I enjoyed talking with Ed Hawkins (Mr. "48/70") up top. Quite a number of other hikers out there today, taking advantage of the break in weather, including a group of 14, mostly young teen kids, which I encountered at the trailhead. They went on ahead, being young vs my old. |
