Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Around the 2 mile mark on the Signal Ridge trail: rock hop on the way in, waded through on the way out. Everything else was fine.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails were in good shape. Everything is wet from all of the rain and humidity, but muddy sections were small and not a problem.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Desolation would be too much. All other trails would be fine.
Bugs
Bugs: Had to stop not far into the woods to spray from head to toe. Not bad after that. The wind on the summit helped.

Comments
Comments: The Carrigain Notch trail was very enjoyable. Lots of looks at the nearby rivers and streams and Mt Lowell. The Desolation trail is a killer. Very steep and unrelenting. All of a sudden you pop out under the fire tower - a welcome sight. The Signal Ridge is all rock and roots with very little soil due to its heavy use.
