Ended up being a great day for hiking the Percy Peaks, though it was very hot. We went up the old Westside Trail, as this was something I had always wanted to explore. Glad we did, because a lot of the blazes are nearly gone. The trail is still navigable in most places, but there are several areas where it's not possible to even discern a footbed any more. Wonderful views on both peaks. The Notch Trail was very well-brushed and clear of all blowdowns. Only saw one other person all day. Not bad for a Saturday in July. |
