 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Hats off to the WODC for doing such an awesome job maintaining these trails! they were mostly dry and little mud compared to everything else we’ve been hiking lately. Water bars were clear and functioning great. Only one blowdown entire route (two-foot diameter trunk with no branches on lower part of Kelley). |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Awesome dog route there are currently small streams crossing Lawrence trail all the way to 3000’ and the Kelley Trail follows a stream so my geriatric husky mix needed zero supplemental water today and stayed cool entire time. No crazy scrambles just a few minor rough spots. |

 | Bugs: |
Bugs and slugs. Mosquitoes weren’t terrible but were around |

 | Comments: |
We enjoyed the scenery and water so much on Kelley Trail that we abandoned our Old Mast descent plans and went back down Kelley. Third time on this trail -it is such an incredible, unique spot and really great on a hot day. Soft footbed most the way up until the last section that climbs out of the box canyon. Lawrence Trail is also a very pleasant walk and the switchbacks make for a super mellow climb most of the way up. Phenomenal views from the ledge and little haze today-yay!!! Chatted with a very friendly Russian family who recently moved to Massachusetts and have hiked “Washington Mount” twice:) Another magnificent day in the woods!!! |
