 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I paid the ten bucks to park by the cog. Best to bring exact cash for the envelope. Plenty of space at 7:30 am but quite crowded at 3 pm. |
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Rock hopping was easy except I did get a foot wet on the upper waterfall crossing. On the way down, I took a chance on the branch laid over the water and managed to cross with dry feet. Gorgeous waterfalls all along the Ammo trail. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
There is a section of erosion where the old trail fell into the river. A new trail now lies just above it on higher ground. There were no sections of trail that caused delay or danger. |
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
I saw two dogs, one energetic and one very tired. |
 | Bugs: |
There were mostly no bugs. However when I stopped for lunch on Monroe, the black flies arrived and bit me. |

 | Comments: |
I feel dumb that I went to Franklin because I thought it was on the list of 48. At least Monroe is on the list, which was my main goal for the day. Of course it was a marvelous day to be on the Presidentials. First mile of Ammo trail felt so easy. After the gem pool, it wasn't easy. But so fun to go up all those rocks with waterfalls all around. In the third mile, when the views and sky open up, it's so rewarding. Then after the hut, there is no bad way to go. Many happy people on their adventures up there. |
