Road parking at Appalachia at 6:30am on a Sunday. Snagged one of the final Capps Trailhead spots around 7am. Both had open spots mid afternoon. |

A bluebird day on the Northern Presis. For fun we spotted a car at Appalachia and took Capps Ridge up to Jefferson. Despite the last month of rain the trail is in outstanding shape. There is some avoidable mud down low but otherwise it's fast and dry. Add a little breeze and there were no bugs either. This remained the theme throughout the day - very minor wet patches but otherwise perfect trail conditions until the very end just above the Appalachia junction.
From now until the next heavy rain the Northern Presis should be in perfect conditions. Enjoy! |
