Comments
Comments: This was a monster hike - 13.92 miles, 4,368 ft ascent, total time start to finish 10:57. Hike in on Great Gulf was muddy and slippery but fine. Six Husbands Trail was tough and slow, and finding the way through the boulder caves took time. Jefferson summit was great, and not crowded, except for a few black flies. I was very much looking forward to making up time going down, but the upper reaches of Sphinx are a water course, very slippery rocks, so care was taken and going was slow. A couple of short rainstorms passed through while I was back on the Great Gulf Trail, making things even more slippery. But: a great day in the White Mountains!
