| Water Crossing Notes: |
All rock hops, some with care. Trekking poles helpful. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Clear trail with signs of recent work with axe and saw, minor brushing. Water bars were doing their job. At about 3k’, just before the ponds, could use some brushing but trails easy to follow. Some bog bridges are in need of replacement and a couple were possible face whacks. My last visit in 2010 there were stacks of lumber placed to the side of the trail for bog bridge work; time for another delivery soon.
Trail not heavily blazed but blazed where it mattered and trail was obvious. |

Nancy Cascades were in top shape, good flow. Last visit was 2010 and I didn’t get to Norcross Pond then. I did today and made it to the overlook for the spectacular view into the Pemi. Saw a moose today feeding in Norcross pond near the overlook, when he saw me and heard my bell he moved on to the other side of the pond. He was a bit bigger than me so glad he went that way~
Saw 1 hiker on the way up and passed 2 on my way down. Total solitude at the ponds made this a truly magical visit. Not many pond side views for lunch at 3100’ :) |
