Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Cooper had a great day. Gradual easy trail for pups. Several water crossings at lower elevations, and of course the pond at higher locations. Mud accumulated on paws, etc. can easily be washed in the stream right at the tailhead.
Bugs
Bugs: Bothersome at the summit, and they were buzzing on the trails. Breeze at pond blew them away.

Comments
Comments: Lovely approach to the Unknown Pond Area. Gradual ascent, streams near for pup to occasionally wander through. Nice pond views. Mud was minimal, and avoidable, compared to other recently hiked trails. Proceeded to HOL to start BW. Herd path easily picked up shortly after entering forest, which leads directly to the summit with canister and moose shed antler. No pensile in canister, so I left one. Baggies had holes, so next person coming may want to bring extra. Side excursion to campsite and pond for quick snack. Very quiet day on mountain, only saw 5 others.
