| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Route 16 was being paved so I don't know if parking alongside the road would have been allowed. I would imagine the project would break off by the weekend if not sooner.
The dirt lot off the road was almost full at 8:00AM |

| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |

| Water Crossing Notes: |
The brooks were easy to cross. Used some rocks that were slightly submerged. See trail maintenance note. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The second brook crossing above the Nineteen Mile Brook Trail and Carter Dome Trail on the Nineteen Mile Brook Trail was formerly a three log span. It is now a one log bridge as two of the logs have been dislodged. I crossed on the one log with careful balancing. Afterwards, I wondered if it would have been safer crossing on the rocks.
The other three log bridge on the crossing downhill from the aforementioned crossing is a three log bridge that is more intact although damaged on two logs. This bridge was easier to cross on.
There were two downed trees on the Carter Dome Trail that were easy to step over.
There was one tree across the Carter-Moriah Trail between Mt Hight and the upper junction of Carter-Moriah and Carter Dome Trail that was a crouch under.
There was one other crouch under and some step overs on the Carter-Moriah Trail down to Carter Lake.
The trail relocations on the Nineteen Mile Brook Trail has some mud spots as does the Carter-Moriah Trail just south of Mt Hight. |

| Comments: |
Nice day to hike the loop over Mt Hight and Carter Dome. The only two steep sections of trail are on the Carter-Moriah Trail to the northwest of Mt Hight and the drop off in to Carter Notch from Pulpit Rock overlook.
A 360 degree view from Mt Hight. Haze reduced the clarity of the view.
Lots of hikers out on the trail including AT thru hikers as well as day hikers. Talked with hikers from Germany, Montreal, Alabama, DC, Illinois, Wisconsin, Virginia, Washington, NJ, PA, and NY. Also from all New England states except Vermont. |
