Tried to get ahead of the rain and forecasted thunderstorms with an early start. My plan worked out okay, considering the sky only opened up after returning to the HOL from East Pond! Popped the pack cover on, and ran the 2.5 miles out! Thankful the trail is in decent shape, and that they’re old logging road grades. I had East Pond to myself, sadly with no animals around the shore. I noticed on my way back up to the ridge that there is a much stronger attempt to brush in the little herd path we saw on the last visit. Brooks were flowing nicely, and were easy to cross. Decent stretch of mud and river on trail south of the Cheney Brook crossing and the two little tributaries. Wasn’t surprised to see I was the only car on return, it was pouring!! |
