| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Got the last spot in the lot at 8 AM. Plenty of road parking. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |

| Water Crossing Notes: |
Either bridged or rocks. I was concerned with the recent rain, but it was fine when I got there. The rocks were not far apart and the water today was shallow enough to have a lot of options. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Looks like someone has been cutting back some of the pine tree branches where the trail gets narrow--thank you! |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw several. |
|
| Bugs: |
Few mosquitos in the afternoon, but they weren't swarming. |

| Comments: |
Just did Carter Dome and Mt. Hight for today. Beautiful views by the stream on 19 Mile Brook. A few switchbacks kept the grade consistent on Carter Dome Trail. We went to Carter Dome first and hit Mt. Hight on the way back. Lots of mud from yesterday's rain on the way to Mt. Hight---prepare to get a little muddy. It was very gradual going up to Mt. Hight from Carter Dome and pretty steep coming down from Mt. Hight on the other side. Descending Mt. Hight was the trickiest part of the hike, so plan your direction accordingly if you'd rather go up it. If you have time, DO NOT SKIP MT. HIGHT. It is not on any list but it is the best view on the whole Carters hike and has unobstructed views of the Presidential Range. 10/10 |
