Trail Maintenance Notes: 3 minor blowdowns across Garfield Trail, easily stepped over
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: wouldn't personally try my big dog on Garfield Ridge but a seasoned footsure canine hiker I'm sure has few problems; Garfield Trail out-and-back an excellent 10mi workout for a doggo. met all nice dogs during trip
Bugs
Bugs: very few! some mosquitos in the wet/lowlying areas but that was it.

Comments
Comments: muddiest on this loop was lower Garfield, but it's mostly drying mud. Wouldn't mind seeing Garfield signage improved...it's pretty nonexistent on summit and tbh there's no signage coming from the ridge that actually includes mileage to summit. (Not that you'll miss the summit!) But we did briefly start down the wrong way heading back..thankfully caught it quickly. We were happy with our loop choice to park at Garfield, do the roadwalk first, go up Galehead - gave us the better summit 2nd day plus much prefer going in that direction on Garfield Ridge. Left us w/the easy 5mi out down Garfield Tr. and straight to car on day 2.
