Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Only one crossing of Field Brook on Mount Shaw Trail was trivial this day, but could be hazardous after heavy rains
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Nothing to report except the beginning of trail below Black Snout is bit over grown to start but becomes quite nice after 50 yards or so. I mention this due to previous report for July 30.

Bugs: Bugs weren't too bad. I didn't need any repellent on this day.

Comments
Comments: The elevation gain is 2400' for this 7.5 mile lollipop loop hike so I don't hesitate to classify this as a big hike particularly as I'm not in good shape for 2000'+ elevation gains.

The view point on Mount Shaw is beginning to grow in so views were not ideal, best viewed while standing. The other two view points, Black Snout and Big Ball Mountain, are also becoming grown in. Blueberries were plentiful on Big Ball, but very tiny so barely worth the effort of picking. I picked a bunch to eat on the trail and small amount for bringing home.
