Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Hedgehog Mountain, NH
Trails
Trails: UNH Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Wednesday, August 9, 2023
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Trailhead parking remains excellent, though the mosquito population makes lingering at one’s car a bit problematic.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: N/A
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: All is well. The only blowdown is the duck under just below the East Ledges; it remains stable and has been there since last winter. The USFS is aware and as this trail is not in the Wilderness, it remains on their list of chainsaw projects. If you are tall, watch your head if you are hiking clockwise as it can surprise you.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: None today, but this is a fabulous trail for pups.
Bugs
Bugs: Just at the trailhead; vicious little monsters.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing today.

Comments
Comments: Clockwise loop. The amount of mud is significantly more than one would expect in August. The ground is impressively saturated. I couldn’t love this hike more!
