Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The last crossing on Unknown Pond involved some wading. The rocks were a little too far apart.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A couple places with blowdown’s necessitated going around. Bunnell Notch and Kilkenny Ridge. (If you can limbo low with a backpack, maybe you’re staying on the trail for the one on the ridge. Also like Temple Run.)
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: Tons of bugs. It was like hiking in a humid, muddy swamp. The Horn was great but otherwise I would skip this and do Cabot up and back in winter.

Comments
Comments: Not my favorite of the 39 4000-footer hikes, but definitely was impacted by the mud and bugs. Also, the trail from unknown pond was barrow and had many overgrown bushes and branches to get out of the way of the trail. Use all the bug spray if you come here! Again, wait for winter. We could have done The Horn another time.
