USGS showed 600 ft^3/s at 4:30 am in East branch of pemi. There were three water crossings of note. First was the smallest, but not an easy rock hop, I found a log up stream that worked. Second was almost rock hop-able, but rocks are all wet and slippery. I tried, but ended up with wet feet. The third was most challenging, but with wet feet I waded thru. Was knee deep, but only a few steps and decent footing on the bottom. Did not feel unsafe. Trail was sloppy in places, lots of running water. The slide had some running water but not that bad. Came down Brutus, which trades steep rocks and scree, for not quite as steep dirt and roots. It was softer, and easier going down on the knees. Not much mud at all on Brutus, maybe it was all washed away. But watch those roots, they are slippery, and everywhere. |
