Finally got around to taking Davis Path to Isolation and it didn't disappoint. The first two miles are a solid climb on very well maintained trails with lots of great rock/step work. After that it's a mix of mud pits, pine needle padded trails and rock outcroppings. Overall the entire trail from the trailhead to Isolation is in very good shape, but be prepared to get your feet muddy.
The trade off for the mud is a near complete lack of people! Only saw two folks in the nine plus miles up to Isolation and had the joy of Mt Davis summit all to my self. The way back down was a bit busier, but still only a dozen or so people over that time.
A great historic path worth traveling on at least once! |
