Fun hike! We had to be back south of Boston by 2pm so it was an early one for us today. Started from the Lafayette Campground parking lot right at 4:30 am. Got to Lonesome Lake right as the sky was getting light and were treated to an unreal view. Fishin' Jimmy trail lives up to the hype. Not "dangerous" as some other trails but was definitely slow going up and especially down. The trails are still wet and some of the rocks are slippery. Once you hit the 4 way intersection by the Kinsman shelter tent site, you continue straight onto Kinsman ridge and the trail seems to dry out. Beautiful views from the lookout on North Kinsman. Pretty standard ridgeline traverse from North to South summit. Then back the way you came. Like I said, descending FJ trail was slow going. And then past Lonesome Lake and back on the way to the campground the trail was BUSY. Seemed like an army of people on their way up, so that ended up being slower as well. Have fun! |
