Two really well behaved dogs. I wonder how they handled the scrambles on Algonqin and Black Lake trails (probably better than we did) |

| Comments: |
Western/lower Guinea Pond trail remains flooded from beaver activity. There is a high water bypass involving part of the power line corridor. Further down approaching Sandwich Notch Road, the flooding was heavy. It can be avoided thanks to a series of rocks, logs, and trail creep; however, it can also be forded easily if either you don't mind wet feet or packed water shoes/sandals. The flooding is over a logging road, so it has a rock bottom and is firm. It looks like there is a complete avoidance trail in the works as we saw flagging for "start of alternate route" flagging and a path developing that was not yet complete.
Camp sites at Black Lake were great; had the place to ourselves. Good to see some remediation work there, too, with some of the harder hit sites closed. Lots of fresh moose sign but none seen. |
