| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parking is on the berm of route 112 (Kancamagus Highway). It would be ideal if off-road parking were available. I suppose budget constraints have prohibited such a lot. |

| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
|
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
The series of small brooks on the Pine Bend Trail were easy to cross on rocks. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails in generally good condition.
There are some gouged out sections of trail and the path in a trench. This has been the condition of the trail for quite some time. The worst sections are above and below the junction with the Scaur Ridge Trail on the Pine Bend Trail. The damage is not so severe as to impede hiking.
Some of the trail signs are weather-worn and not easily read.
Two trees on the Pine Bend Trail have been recently cut. Otherwise, all other tree falls are on or near ground level and easy to get by. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Dogs on the trail. Dog must be comfortable with wet steep rocky surfaces. |

None |

| Comments: |
There are muddy spots on the Pine Bend Brook Trail in the low elevation stretch before the Wilderness border. Often there are rocks to help in these areas. However, expect to have muddy boots.
Most of the rocks in the steeper sections of the Pine Bend Brook Trail are wet and some with moss. Side paths are available to avoid the wet slanted ledges on the north side of the North Tripyramid cone. Yet you can enjoy some of the rough sections by using foot and hand holds. Care must be exercised especially on descent.
Some restricted views at outlooks at or near both summits. Hazy skies prevented seeing distant mountains.
Hikers used all the routes up the Tripyramids today.
Observed the orange fruit of the Mountain Ash, the red capsules of the Painted Trillium, and red berries of the Bunchberry. Goldenroad and Asters in bloom although the Asters were spindly.
Met hikers from three towns abutting my home town including a three generation family group. |
