Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I arrived at just after 9:00AM and had to park on the side of Mt Clinton Road. Parking is only allowed on the side of the road on the opposite side from the parking lot. The Mt Clinton Road from route 302 has many bumps and holes that make for a bumpy ride. All vehicles should be able to drive on this road.

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossing of Abenaki Brook was easy on rocks. Some rocks slightly under water.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails in good condition. No obstructions. The only tree falls on the Edmands Path were on the ground. The water diversion trenches on the Edmands Path were cleared out well.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Good for dogs. Owners should try to keep the dogs off the alpine vegetation above tree line.
Bugs
Bugs: None. There was a ground nest warning sign on the cairn at the summit of Mt Eisenhower. I saw no hornets in the area.

Comments
Comments: What a great day. Much better visibility than most of the summer.
Not much mud. The most difficult portion of the Edmands Path was the section uphill of the upper water crossing at 2.4 miles. The ledges on the Edmand Path were a mix of dry and wet surfaces. I had no problem with traction on these surfaces.
It appears that the approach to Mt Franklin from the south is being discouraged as there are rock walls at both the summit and at the Crawford Path. Consequently, the access to and from Mt Franklin is from the north approach from the Crawford Path.
Saw Boott Rattlesnake Root and Alpine Goldenrod. The Mountain Avens are no longer in bloom.
Stopped in to the Lake of the Clouds Hut.
Met many hikers today. Lots of kids out ranging from 6 years up through teenagers. One 7 year old girl was hiking a Presidential traverse. Good size group of hikers with a military foundation. Two hikers from Switzerland. AT thru hikers and section hikers including three from Alabama and one from Indiana. Lots of hikers from throughout New England including three nurses from RI.
