Everything was in generally good shape. Backwoods Trail was in the worst condition. Lots of trees down, lots of erosion, and where it wasn't a mud fest it was a running stream. Lots of flagging is up and there's one short relocation around a flooded spot, so perhaps improvements are in the works. |

Hadn't been here in a long time but any day I can be on Elwell Trail is a good day.
Most of these trails were damp and were made damperer by a few passing showers. Various depths of mud here and there but nothing treacherous. Waterproof boots are helpful if walking through the muck along Backwoods Trail (see above).
Good views from the summits and the pond was quiet. Aside from the area right around Little Sugarloaf, I didn't see anyone the entire trip. |
