Continuing my Presi Traverse from the day before, I had perfect weather, clear visibility and moderate wind. I left Madison Hut early for Lakes, and moved at a solid pace. I kept being passed and also passing a group of four young trail runners doing the traverse in one day—really nice group of people. Washington was a zoo, what a weird interruption to a man eoic hike. But if you can’t beat’em, join’em, so I grabbed a hot dog. Off to Lakes hut and a quick ascent to Monroe in the clouds. Spent the night at the Hut, very crowded but still good conversations and a fun naturalist talk on astronomy. |
