| Water Crossing Notes: |
All were either rock-steps (not hops) or weren't more than an inch deep. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Some excellent recent chainsaw work on Mount Morgan trail. A couple of blow downs here and there, but nothing to make an impact. Water bars look great, although htere are some sections very worn down/eroded from major use. Not much to do about that. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Soooo....Didn't think the scrambling/ledges would be a [problem for our Lab Frank, since he's been up the Flume Slide, Carter Ledge, Wildcat RIdge from rte. 16, etc. Unfortunately, the top of Percival is more bouldering than scrambles, with narrow footing and large-ish gaps. Took some time to coax/help/carry/lead him in places. |

| Comments: |
Didn't help that the bouldering section of Percival was in full sun on a warmer day. That coupled with the dog-stuff meant we were there for a while. Other than that, we headed across the ridge to Mt. Morgan then down to the "cave" squeeze and ladder section, then circled back to come down the other end of the loop. As noted, very nice job on the lower end of Mount Morgan Trail. A LOT of unprepared people out today (one woman was hiking barefoot(!) with her flip flops in her hand. Nice weather and close to popular areas brings 'em out. Oh well. Hopefully heading someplace quieter tomorrow... |
