Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: If skipping the Black Pond Bushwhack, bring your tevas and poles for the crossings. There are a bunch of them, ranging from a few steps submerging your feet to the big one that was up over our knees for a few steps. We stayed in our tevas from the first crossing all the way to base of the climb. There hadn’t been much rain the prior week, or we’d have had trouble with these. The Black Pond Bushwack skips the majority of the crossings, but still worth the tevas to keep shoes dry.

Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: That one carrying his own water and bowl all the way up and back was a trooper!
Bugs
Bugs: Tons of butterflies at the last crossing before the mountain!

Comments
Comments: We took our bikes for the first and last 3 miles. What a blast! Highly recommend this, though it is a significant challenge to roll over the rail ties and through the mud if you’re not used to that sort of thing. They are unavoidable. Locked them to a 10” tree about 30ft off trail by the Wilderness sign. 3 bikes took 3 cables and a u-lock to secure.
