| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Just two cars ahead of us at 7am, leaving plenty of space. But this is mid-week, post-Labor Day now. Just a few more cars at 2pm. |

| Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |

| Recommended Equipment: |
|
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
The few crossings were running low, making the rock hops fairly easy. Still, it's always helpful to have waterproof footware on. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The trail is in fairly good shape. There were a few easy step-over blowdowns. Most of the mud patches have firmed up enough to allow walking over them, but your new shiny white $10 department store sneakers are not going to stay that way. Get decent footware for hiking these trails. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw one, well-behaved, on leash. |
|
| Bugs: |
Bug juice not applied today, yet it didn't seem that there were any biting bugs at all, except at the uppermost of the little crossings, where I stopped to wash sweat off on the way down. |

| Comments: |
Nice day for doing Garfield, with an early start. Not too warm then, but notable humidity. We encountered a number of other hikers as we hiked down. The view at the top was especially nice. To the north was a cloud bank right up against the higher peaks, and seeming to spill slowly over at the cols between peeks. We were just about at the same elevation as the top of the cloud bank, and the full sun turned the cloud tops bright white. The overall sight was really stunning. |
