Comments
Comments: Powder snow underlain by an icy layer. Snow just a trace at low elevation up to about a half foot at 3,000 feet. I was able to ascend with bare boots to the Mt Crawford Spur Trail. Used Microspikes to hike up the spur trail and left them on to Crawford Dome and the return to trailhead. The Microspikes provided adequate traction except for pitched ledge sections where I skated down the slope on descent. Crampons would have been better on these sloped icy ledges. There was a decent area of bare rock on Crawford Dome to sit and eat. A snow man greets hikers on the first lookout ledge on the Davis Path. No other hikers on this section of the Davis Path today.
