Parking/Access Road Notes: The road in should be fine for low clearance cars. No one was parking at the end of the maintained road as the guidebook describes; everyone parks at the boat launch where there’s plenty of room.

Comments
Comments: 1st hike of the day with the CCC and the parents. This is a great little hike! The trail is pretty flat, easy, and provides good footing. Very minimal effort for a very nice view. The trail is pretty easy to follow, just don’t miss the turn off at 0.6mi. I kept my eyes peeled for a turn off to the left here for the 0.2mi spur described in the guidebook but did not see one. My best guess is that this is a guidebook error. There is a very muddy section or two of trail which I think was around the “grassy, brushy area” described in the guidebook. People seem to walk around. Rather than follow the trail back, we continued on the loop road (which is shown on Gaia though the 0.2mi footpath to the ledge is not shown on Gaia which could certainly lead to some confusion). This goes through private property and the man was mowing with a huge tractor but waved us through and was very kind. He says he actually encourages people to walk through. This may a little longer than returning the other way but is a fine, grassy walk. Just make sure you stay on the main road. Gaia had me at 2.5mi, 175ft of gain but that was with a lot of to and fro trying to find the spur that doesn’t exist.
