Hiked Mount Hale:
I wanted a shorter hike to a 48 today since I didn’t start unit 2:00pm. The Hale Brook Trail is a very straight forward San easy to follow trail. The two stream crossings were both easily rock hopped and trail was not very muddy. Definitely a steady grade that made you feel it, but no too though. A few glimpses of some peaks through the trees near the summit. While the summit really has no real views it is a wide open grassy rocked clearing that has a giant rock cairn on it and was a nice summit to enjoy a snack. I enjoyed talking with a hiker who just finished hiking North Twin and took the the fire wardens to trail from the Twin Trail to the summit of Mount Hale afterwards. There were two trees across the trail that required a big straddle on both. Other than that the trail was in good shape. Short hike for another 48. |
