Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Hogan road is being worked on, I think it's closed on weekdays, but I drove to the trailhead on a Sunday. The lot is small, maybe 4 cars. You can park at the end of the road, plenty of room, it's a 5 minute walk.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All small and easy step overs.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails were in very good condition. The burn area looks better and there is significant growth coming in, mostly Oaks.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Easy dog trail and plenty of water, many small streams that are usually dry now are still flowing, such a wet year, good for dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: I did see a few, not sure what they were but they buzzed me.

Comments
Comments: I like this route better than the Mahoosuc trail from route 16. It has a nice variety and is never steep or challenging. The forest is much better over here and the trip down to the Gorham Ledge is always worth taking. 7/52 for Shays round 3 of the 52wav list. The leaves are turning for sure, we need a hard freeze and they will pop.
